PHASES — A Musical Journey Through the Evolution of a Universe
I’m pleased to announce the release of PHASES, an ambient and cinematic composition that explores the evolution of a universe through four distinct stages: Creation, Expansion, Convergence, and Collapse.
Originally recorded in 2002, PHASES was conceived as a single, continuous musical work. More than twenty years later, the original composition has been revisited, remixed, and released, bringing this earlier work back to life while preserving its original concept.
Four Stages of Transformation
The composition unfolds through four phases, each representing a different state of transformation.
PHASE I — Creation
The emergence of something new: the beginning of a universe and the first movements of existence.
PHASE II — Expansion
An ongoing process of emergence and proliferation, as everything expands and new elements come into being.
PHASE III — Convergence
A gradual movement towards order, balance, and harmony, as the different elements begin to settle into a more coherent whole.
PHASE IV — Collapse
The final stage of dissolution, where the structures that have emerged throughout the composition move towards their ultimate collapse.
Although each phase has its own musical character, the four sections belong to a single continuous arc. Each stage leads naturally into the next, creating a broader journey from creation to destruction.
One Composition, Two Ways to Experience It
PHASES is available both as four individual tracks and as PHASES — Complete Version, which brings the entire composition together in one continuous listening experience.
The individual phases allow each stage to be experienced independently, while the Complete Version preserves the overall progression and the relationship between all four parts.
Rather than illustrating a specific story or depicting a particular universe, PHASES offers an open-ended musical exploration of transformation, movement, and the passage from one state to another. It imagines a universe in constant evolution, where creation and destruction are inseparable parts of the same cycle.
